Matt Jones has
lived an amazing life. Between the experience of launching a handful of
successful ventures, Matt has taken the time to navigate the globe in search of
adventure. Traveling to the most remote regions in the world, throughout over 70
countries, one can only imagine how the experience has shaped his views, as an
artist.
Currently
an abstract expressionist painter, Matt’s work is vibrant, expressive and
huge! Jones has often been referred to as a modern day Jackson Pollock. Being
the consummate entrepreneur, Matt is also the founder of a highly successful
Internet nutrition company and a truly wonderful local grassroots charity.
In addition to rescuing men from sharks, driving zodiacs through the center of
icebergs the size of Kirkland, having a cat with his own website. Matt has lived life as an entertainer, writer, photographer, humanitarian,
adventurer, entrepreneur & executive.
As
the founder of MashedPotatoes.org,
Jones has a driven desire to help feed the world and has donated nearly 500,000
pounds of potatoes to benefit Northwest Harvest. MashedPotatoes.org is a grassroots organization that puts the
f-u-n in fundraising on the first Friday of every month, by turning his gallery
into a free evening of art, wine, and hors d’oeuvres among some of Seattle’s
hippest movers and shakers. Where does it happen? At Gasworks Gallery, of
course. (Dot Com, of course!)
Featured
on King 5, NWCN, KOMO and in Seattle Metropolitan Magazine (Seattle’s Most
Eligible Single’s 2006 List) to name a few, Jones and MashedPotatoes.org are
noted for their tremendous contributions to Seattle’s food shelters. As Jones
puts it, “Mashed potatoes are the king of comfort food. The top of the food
chain of cool.”
